Our Purpose
Positive Images is an educational not-for-profit whose purpose is to help young people shatter the perceived boundaries of their options, encourage them to dream and reach for their full potential.
Our Mission
Positive Images' mission is to reinforce the ambitious intention of promising youth and help them recognize the possibilities for expanding & achieving their aspirations.
We do it by creating teachable moments organized around events and activities that bring together aspiring young talent with role models from the community who have journeyed similar paths.
The Milwaukee community has made substantial progress in many economic and social areas. However, several indicators continue to highlight gaps in the services and support currently provided young people and foretelling too many of tomorrow's generation will be unprepared for their future.
Some of the indicators we see include -
- Rates of teen suicides, drug use, bullying, and other anti-social behavior
- Students lacking the experiences needed for educational & career opportunities
- Few students civically aware and engaged
- Many students raised in households lacking parental role models engaged in skilled trades, entrepreneurship, or professional undertakings
- Many students lacking consideration of the future
- Limited constructive peer reinforcement
- Inordinate number of teen parents
Positive Images cultivates tomorrow's leaders by bringing together cohorts of promising youth with relateable role-models in activities that organically encourages mentoring, relationship-building, professional and civic awareness.
Positive Images programs provide
- Mentoring and guidance from role models
- Small and large group discussions on topics of shared interests
- Access and exposure to local and state government
- Exposure to diverse entrepreneurial, professional, and other career opportunities
- Local and state community awareness
- Volunteerism
- Fun activities that foster student activities and engagement with one another
